Between Thursday 16th and Saturday 18th February the Warwick University Real Ale Society will be hosting their annual Real Ale Festival. This year will be its 33rd year running and it is going to be bigger and better than ever before with even more beers and ciders to satisfy everyone, regardless of your drinking preferences. There will be 100 plus beers on offer from both local breweries such as Everards, Warwickshire, Wye Valley and Hook Norton as well as many popular UK breweries. Also available will be a wide range of traditional ciders as well as various fruit wines and mead. To complement this abundance of great tasting drinks will be a suitably large hog roast and multiple bar snacks.

There is also live entertainment on each night with the enduring Dr Busker, the UK's last Victorian pub pianist, back to open the festival with a bang in his own amiable fashion on the Thursday evening. Friday and Saturday evenings will see performances from two Warwick student orchestras.

The entry price is only £3 but for CAMRA members it is free. Festival glasses will also be available to buy. The three nights will all start at 6pm and will stay open till at least midnight. This year the festival has the status of a charity fundraiser and 55% of all profits will be going to charity. It will be located within the Warwick University SU, Coventry. For directions and any more information plus to see what last year's festival was like go to our website at www.warwickale.co.uk.

It doesn't matter whether you are a seasoned ale drinker or just want to try something new, please do come along to our festival as it promises to be a fantastic event for everyone involved.

18/02 7pm-10pm: Warwick Malaysia Night
3 February 2012 02:06

When: 7pm - 10pm, Sat, 18 Feb '12

Where: Butterworth Hall, Warwick Arts Centre

Warwick Malaysia Night is not just an ordinary cultural event. It is the culmination of many months of hard work, ambition, belief and excitement by more than 100 of our members majestically merged together to produce the most comprehensively unforgettable display of Malaysian culture in the UK.

Fittingly held in the Warwick Arts Centre, the largest Arts Centre in the West Midlands, we present to you an eye-opening night of surprises, culture, thrill and grandeur; Warwick Malaysia Night 2012: Echo.

“If your past comes back to haunt you, will you fight it, or run from it?”

The era is the 1950s. It was the near end of the Malayan Emergency, where tension was at an all-high between the National Army and the Communist Party. Life-threatening guerilla attacks are imminent and no one is safe. Imagine waking up in a hospital and realising that you have no recollection of your past. Where do you go from here?

This February 18th, join Lee Na in the midst of all the chaos, as she finds herself awake in a hospital, only to find that she has lost her precious memory from a gunshot to the head. With great determination in search for the truth, she goes back to her village and faces the many challenges presented to uncover her past. Why was she shot? Who can she trust apart from herself? An artistic and culturally-infused play of self-discovery, love, war and reflection, the echo of Lee Na’s past will never elude her for the memory of our past lives on forever.

Warwick Malaysia Night, of course, would not be complete without our signature dikir barat team to close the night. Energy, passion and tradition have never looked (and sounded) this good. And this February, we have a surprise in store for you! Come witness the best dikir barat team in the UK from a fresh, new dimension in the 1500-seated Butterworth Hall in Warwick Arts Centre. If you were fortunate enough to catch a snippet of our dikir barat team in the recent One World Week World Music Concert or ChiSoc & CSSA Chinese New Year Gala, you will know that this is one performance you cannot miss.

Warwick Malaysian Students’ Association gracefully extends a warm welcome to each and every one of you to immerse yourself in Malaysian culture and experience a brand new, once-in-a-lifetime, unforgettable evening of magic with us!
