The University has worked closely with the University of Strathclyde Students’ Association, Scottish Refugee Council, and The Carnegie Trust to create this scholarship. Its aim is to help asylum seekers, currently in the UK, and individuals currently in the UK on humanitarian grounds to overcome obstacles in pursuing higher education.

The scholarship is available to students who want to study for an undergraduate degree or a taught postgraduate degree at the University of Strathclyde. It covers the cost of tuition fees and provides money for essential study-related expenses.

If you were under 18 when your parent or guardian applied for asylum, or if you are an unaccompanied asylum seeker and under 18 when your asylum application was submitted, you may be eligible to have your tuition fees paid by SAAS.

The Business School is pleased to offer scholarship for international students applying to the undergraduate BBA Honours Business Administration course.  A number of 25% fee reduction per year awards are on offer (three years in total) and the award will be deducted from your tuition fees. 

The BBA Honours course offers general business study over 3 years and the opportunity to specialise in the following business disciplines: Business Analysis and Technology; Business Enterprise; Economics; Human Resource Management; Hospitality and Tourism Management; and Marketing.

Dean's International Excellence Awards

Students who apply for this award are required to demonstrate academic excellence (usually a UK first-class undergraduate degree or international equivalent), and the potential to make a significant contribution to the Strathclyde community during their studies and in their chosen profession upon graduation (assessed by information provided in the scholarship application form). The deadline for applications for the Dean’s International Excellence Award is 28 June 2024.

Important things to note:

• The value of the postgraduate taught scholarship award is equivalent to a 15% reduction of your fees for your first year of study. This is typically up to £4,240.

• If you are studying a two-year MSc course, you will receive a 15% scholarship for your first year only.

• The amount varies for selected courses with a different fee, including courses within Architecture and Civil and Environmental Engineering and Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering.

• Applicants awarded the scholarship and studying an 18-month MSc course will receive a scholarship typically equating to £4,240.

Postgraduate taught applicants only:

• Postgraduate taught applicants who wish to be considered for the Dean’s International Excellence Award have to apply no later than 28 June 2024. Following this deadline, those candidates who have been selected to receive this scholarship will be notified by email in due course.

• Those candidates who are selected for the Dean’s International Excellence Award will normally be required to pay their deposit within 3 weeks of notification to remain eligible for the scholarship.

• After 28 June 2024, postgraduate taught applicants may still apply to receive a Faculty of Engineering International Scholarship (value: 15% of fee) only.

Scholarships of £6,000 are available to new international students joining a postgraduate taught masters degree in the Department of Physics in the 2024/2025 academic year.

All postgraduate taught masters offer holders in the Department of Physics who meet the eligibility criteria will receive the scholarship. No separate scholarship application is necessary. 

Eligibility

In order to be considered for a Faculty of Science International Masters Scholarship for Physics, candidates must:

• Be a new, international fee-paying student holding an offer of admission by 31 July 2024, for a full-time, taught masters degree in the Department of Physics for the 2024/2025 academic year.

• Be self-funded. Students who receive full scholarships, for example from a government office or embassy, will not be eligible. 

Terms and conditions

• Applicants must meet all of the above eligibility criteria to be considered for a Faculty of Science International Masters Scholarship for Physics.

• To receive their scholarship, awardees must enrol in the 2024/ 2025 academic year and continue to meet all of the above eligibility criteria. Should an awardee choose to defer their offer of admission to the following academic year, the scholarship will no longer be valid.

• The scholarship will be awarded towards the payment of a student’s tuition fee. It cannot be used for payment of a deposit.

• The value of each award will be £6,000.

• The deadline for consideration is 31 July 2024.

• Students are only eligible to hold one scholarship per academic year from the University of Strathclyde.

• The Faculty of Science's decision on the awarding of scholarships is final. Appeals will not be considered.

Scholarships of between £5,000 - £7,000 are available to new international students joining a postgraduate taught masters degree in the Faculty of Science in the 2024/2025 academic year.

Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to candidates who demonstrate excellent academic performance (current and/ or previously gained) and any relevant extra-curricular or professional experience.

Scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis. Awards may be allocated early in the application cycle and so making an early application for admission is advised.

Please do not submit duplicate scholarship applications as all scholarship application forms submitted will remain under consideration until the deadline of 31 July 2024.

• Be a new, international fee-paying student holding an offer of admission for a full-time, taught masters degree in the Faculty of Science for the 2024/2025 academic year.

Terms and conditions

• Applicants must meet all of the above eligibility criteria to be considered for a Faculty of Science International Masters Scholarship.

• Applicants who have been awarded a scholarship will be notified within four weeks of submitting a scholarship application form. Applicants who have not been notified of receiving a scholarship within four weeks of application will remain under consideration for an award until 31 July 2024.

• As a condition of their scholarship, successful applicants must make their deposit payment by the relevant deadline date below. The Faculty reserves the right to withdraw the scholarship offer if the deposit payment deadline is not met.

  • If the scholarship offer was made on or before 15 March 2024, awardees are required to make the deposit payment by 30 May 2024.

  • If the scholarship offer was made on or before 16 May 2024, awardees are required to make the deposit payment by 31 July 2024.

  • If the scholarship offer was made between 17 May and 31 July 2024, awardees are required to make the deposit payment by 15 August 2024.

• To receive their scholarship successful applicants must enrol in the 2024/ 2025 academic year, continue to meet all of the above eligibility criteria and make the deposit payment by the relevant deadline.

• The scholarship will be awarded towards the payment of a student’s tuition fee. It cannot be used for payment of a deposit.

The GREAT Scholarships 2024 programme, launched by the British Council together with 72 UK universities, supports international postgraduate students from selected countries to access world-class UK higher education opportunities.

This scholarship offers financial support of £10,000 to students pursuing one-year postgraduate study at the University of Strathclyde. 

Please note that applicants should be passport holders of Bangladesh, Ghana, Kenya and Pakistan.

Eligibility

In order to be deemed eligible for the GREAT Scholarship for justice and law, candidates must:

• Be available to commence academic studies in the UK by the start of the academic year in September 2024.

• Have paid their tuition fee deposit before 28 June 2024. 

• Register as an international, fee-paying student and should be passport holders of Bangladesh, Ghana, Kenya, Pakistan.

• Have an offer of study for a full-time, postgraduate law programme at the University of Strathclyde. This scholarship is only available on the following programmes: LLM Law, LLM/MSc Criminal Justice and Penal Change; LLM/MSc Mediation and Conflict Resolution; LLM Global Environmental Law and Governance; LLM Human Rights Law; LLM International Commercial Law; LLM Construction Law.

Terms and conditions

• Applicants must meet all of the above eligibility criteria to be considered for this scholarship.

• To receive their scholarship, awardees must enrol in the 2024 academic year and continue to meet all of the above eligibility criteria throughout their studies.

• The scholarship is not available for online courses.

• Students receiving discounted tuition fees from partner universities are not eligible.

• The value of the scholarship is £10,000. The scholarship will be awarded towards the payment of a student’s tuition fee, subject to academic progression.

• Scholarship recipients must be willing to attend a networking event of all UK-based GREAT scholars, to discuss experiences and capture perceptions of studying in the UK.

• Scholarship recipients must be willing to maintain contact with the British Council and the University of Strathclyde and act as an ambassador for GREAT Scholarships. 

• As an alumnus of the GREAT Scholarships, be willing occasionally to speak to potential candidates about his or her own experience of studying in the UK.

This scholarship is for new international students who will begin a full-time undergraduate course in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in September 2024. The award is a £5,000 scholarship per year for the duration of their degree (total of £20,000 for a four year course). All offer-holders are eligible for this scholarship.

Eligibility

In order to be deemed eligible for a Dean's International Excellence Award, candidates must:

• Be available to commence academic studies in the UK by the start of the academic year in September/October 2024.

• Have paid their tuition fee deposit before 31st July 2024.

• Register as an international, fee-paying student.

• Have an offer of study for a full-time four year undergraduate Humanities and Social Sciences programme at the University of Strathclyde.

• This also includes year two entry to the two year Graduate Entry LLB Law programme.

Strathclyde Business School is delighted to offer 'Dean's Excellence Awards' for entry in 2024. We will award a number of scholarships to high-quality international applicants to our undergraduate degrees for entry in 2024/25.

A number of 20% fee reduction per year awards are available, and the award will be deducted from your tuition fee in each year of undergraduate study with Strathclyde Business School.

Scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis from mid January 2024 onwards and the final deadline for consideration will be 31st July 2024.

The Deans Excellence Awards will be awarded to candidates who demonstrate in their Scholarship application, MBA programme application and interview; exceptional professional/managerial/leadership experience and career development, excellent academic performance and who will significantly contribute to the overall academic, cultural and experiential profile of the programme cohort.

Who can demonstrate through their ideas outlined in their scholarship and programme application as well as their interview how they would contribute to bring the class together through teamwork to create community, from the outset, in order to achieve the ultimate learning (and social) experience for the group as a whole.

Leadership/management skills or potential, overall quality of the programme application and financial need will also be considered.

The Scholarships will be awarded on merit, rather than financial need, to candidates who demonstrate in both their Scholarship Application and their Masters programme application, excellent academic performance (current and/or previously gained); any relevant extra-curricular or professional experience and career development and who will contribute to the overall academic, cultural and experiential profile of the programme cohort.

Eligibility

Important things to note

• Candidates must be self-funded (ie. not in receipt of any funding from any other scholarships, employer sponsorship, etc) and already hold an offer of a place on an SBS MSc programme for the September 2024 intake and also be deemed International with regards to Fee Status.

• Students are only eligible for one scholarship per academic year from the University of Strathclyde.

• Online and blended learning programmes are not eligible for these scholarships.

• Scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis from mid January onwards and the final deadline for consideration of applications will be 31st July 2024. 

• Strathclyde Business School's decision on the awarding of scholarships is final.

• Please do not submit duplicate applications as all forms and statements submitted will remain under consideration.

Candidates interested in applying should provide a maximum 1000 word statement demonstrating, through their ideas, experience and future career plans (including their reasoning for joining their chosen programme and why they should be awarded this scholarship.  

Scholarship awardees will also be expected to engage with a variety of activities during their course of study, including:

• Monitoring and contributing to future applicant forums and responding with information regarding the relevant course.

• Taking an active role in either the social committee or class rep committee.

• Volunteering as an admissions contact for prospective students.

• Assisting the school in the development and management of events.

• Retaining alumni communication post MSc completion.
